That Diabetes Documentary

Helping Men & Women To Prevent & Fight Diabetes Symptoms
"By the way, my doctor told me... I've got PREDIABETES."

"What!?!"

... was all I could think to say. How could this be?

Not long ago, I was home for the holidays, sitting out on my parents' backyard deck, overly full from my mom's famous tortellini, when my dad casually told me the news.

But there was nothing casual about the fear that suddenly gripped me.

Blindness, heart disease, cancer, risk of amputations, even Alzheimer's disease -
ANY of these could now be in my father's future. And mine.

If my dad, who'd always been physically fit, was in danger of becoming a full-blown diabetic, did that mean that I too was also on a path towards diabetes?
What also gave me the chills, was that several times in my life, I’ve seen friends and family members get diagnosed as Diabetic.

One of them even became Type 1 diabetic in his 30s, which I didn’t even know was possible.

What’s worse is that I’ve known things to get worse for diabetics.

I've seen several cases of severe long-term damage, like partial blindness and risks of heart attacks.

This worried me, and made me scared for my father’s life, not to mention myself and my future children who could easily go down that path too.

So I spent over 2 and a half years researching books, interviewing Doctors, Nutritionists, Diabetics, and other experts…

And made discoveries that many medical professionals have overlooked. These have lead to many positive outcomes for Diabetics all over the world. And also a dramatic reduction in reliance on expensive prescriptions.

I am NOT saying to stop taking medications. What I am saying is that there is a lot that can be done to reduce symptoms and hence reduce the need for it.

It makes me angry how much focus from the drug companies is on the treatment, and not on looking at the root cause.

Believe it or not diabetes is big business.

Last year, the market for diabetes drugs hit $50 Billion. This year it's set to hit $60 Billion.

How are they doing this?

In order to grow profits, Big Pharma needs people to continue to buy their drugs each year.

If they were to find a solution, and use it on their patients, those massive profits would disappear overnight.

So, that's why so many of us believe that looking for the solution was never in their plans.

The entire system is rigged.

Instead, they continue to recommend increasing dosages of medications that only treat the symptoms and not the ROOT CAUSE... So as a result, most diabetics need to take MORE medications down the road, ones that also ONLY treat the symptoms and NOT the cause.

There are MILLIONS of people who have pre-diabetes too, who could easily prevent escalating this problem, if they treated the root cause... Instead of just medication to treat the symptoms, as that only delays the onset of Diabetes, rather than prevents it.

Again, I'm NOT saying to stop taking these meds if someone is prescribed.

What I'm saying is that it IS just a treatment of the symptoms. People DO need to look at the realprotocol for treating the root cause.

If the root cause isn’t addressed, then many other conditions may result, such as high blood pressure, heart disease, metabolic syndrome, and more.

I produced what I believe is the world’s most comprehensive resource for men and women on how to fight and prevent Diabetes.

I've spent over 2 years traveling the world, filming with Doctors, Nutritionists, Diabetics and other experts who have seen dramatic improvements from real protocols that treat the ROOT CAUSE and not just the symptoms.

Today is the day to stop feeling tired, fat, and full of aches and pains…

And say YES to living a life free from worry about what to do to balance erratic blood sugar, being overweight, heart disease, arthritis and so forth.

Now is the time to safeguard yourself and loved ones from the life threatening effects of diabetes…

7 Myths About Diabetes

This revolutionary program arms people with the ability to fight and prevent diabetes, without getting over-medicated, and without missing out on favorite foods.

It does all this while boosting energy, reducing inflammation, reducing hormone issues and balancing blood sugar.

There’s a lot of misinformation that’s confusing the public and it’s time to clear some of the biggest misconceptions about diabetes and stop perpetuating the myths surrounding it:
Myth #1: Diabetes Cannot Be Stopped / Fixed
Medically speaking, this is true. But in reality it’s false. Here’s an example of why.

Jack and Jill have a bucket. Jack drops it on concrete and a crack appears at the bottom of it. So, they go ahead and add a new ‘2nd bottom’ to the bucket with some wood and glue. Now the bucket is fixed. But technically the crack is still there, it’s just no longer a problem.

Similarly with Diabetes, if someone is to make some food swap and body movement changes, that result in their symptoms dropping away to nothing, then they have essentially stopped Diabetes.

Yes, if they make some poor lifestyle choices in the future it could come back, but essentially, as far as their medical markers are concerned, it’s now gone.

At this point, Doctors may recommend going off the diabetes medication the Diabetes markers are now gone.

I’ve met many people who have been previously Diabetic, and are now in better health than they ever had been, even before they were diagnosed.

Imagine not having to worry about weight , energy, blood sugar, guilt over eating favorite foods, and so forth. Protect your future. Get the Diabetes Smarts program today.
Myth #2: Overconsumption of Sugar Leads To Type 2 Diabetes
For most people, it might make perfect sense that a diet high in sugar is the culprit behind diabetes. But the truth isn't that simple.

Diabetes is essentially the body's inability to produce insulin, a hormone that removes the glucose from your bloodstream and passes it to your cells and organs.

Normally, your pancreas should be able to make enough insulin to do the job. But poor lifestyle choices (which involves processed food and a sedentary daily routine) leads you to overconsume calories you don't end up burning. This stresses out your pancreas to make more and more insulin to keep up with the excess glucose. But eventually, your pancreas gets damaged and stops working.

As insulin production grinds to a halt, blood sugar levels spike to dangerous levels, causing a cascade of complications. Harmful fats called triglyciderides will build up and throw off your hormonal balance. This leads to overeating which will compound the problem even more.
Myth #3: Having Diabetes Means Following a Very Restrictive Diet
It's wrong to think that diabetics are doomed to a life of eating tasteless, unappetizing food. But in reality, you can still enjoy tasty, satisfying meals that don't spike your insulin or throw off your hormones.

It's more about following guidelines (rather than hard and fast rules) to make sure you're giving your body what it actually needs without depriving yourself.

That Diabetes Documentary provides people with a better way to live while enjoying incredibly appealing and nutritionally-packed food options in the process!
Myth #4: You Need to Throw Carbs Out The Window
Like any other food, carbohydrates are a source of energy for your body to burn. The problem isn't carbs in itself, but rather eating the WRONG kind and HOW MUCH of it you eat.

Refined carbs, for instance, doesn't have the fiber which prevents your blood glucose levels from spiking. Complex carbs, on the other hand, burn more slowly which keeps your glucose levels nice and even throughout the day.

And when you keep your portion sizes reasonable, you can still enjoy certain carbs and manage diabetes at the same time.
Myth #5: You Need To Give Up Specific Fruits
While not all fruits are created equal, you don't actually have to stop eating some of them. Generally, they have essential micronutrients that fight oxidation, while fiber promotes good digestion.

However, some fruits happen to have what's known as a high glycemic index (GI) which can be a tricky issue for diabetics.

So the rule of thumb is to eat more low-GI fruits, and manage your high-GI fruit consumption. Plus, eating high-GI fruits after a workout will keep your glucose levels steady.
Myth #6: Skinny People Don't Get Type 2 Diabetes
This couldn't be more wrong. Yes, excess body fat does play a part in developing diabetes, but genetics and other factors are also part of the picture.

Things like fatigue, constant thirst, immunity problems, numbness of extremities should be taken into account. More importantly, schedule regular check-ups and test blood sugar levels to know where you're at.
Myth #7: Taking Insulin Is a Sign Of Serious Trouble
There are times when adjusting your eating habits and more cardio will get blood glucose levels and insulin production under control. Some people might need to also take medication without having to rely on taking insulin.

However, if someone doesn't respond to this approach and has to step things up, it's not the end of the world. In fact, taking insulin is actually not dangerous at all.

Research shows that insulin treatment doesn't lead to complications and helps some diabetics manage their lives much better. So, problems can arise when someone who needs artifical insulin avoids taking it and starts experiencing even more symptoms than before.

The challenge that changed my life forever...

About 20 years ago, I was in Film School in Miami.

Early morning, I got woken up suddenly by the crazy kicking and mumbling sounds of my room mate. He was thrashing about in his bed.

I went over to him quickly and found that he was sweating profusely.

I tried to wake him up, but he was actually awake, just not ‘all there.’

He started babbling words to me that made no sense at all.

“Oh crap!” I thought, this is the thing he had warned me about… He was having a diabetic attack.

I sprinted over to the fridge and found his Glucagon, and quickly injected it into him as he’d told me to do if this ever happened.

Then I called 911, the paramedics came, and they took him to the hospital.

He was still in a confused state for many hours.

Luckily the shot I had given him kept him from going into a coma.

He was in hospital for a few days recovering, and eventually came right.

At the time, I thought, sheez Diabetes really sucks.

And I carried on with my life as normal.

Over the years that followed, every now and then I’d see another friend or family member, get diagnosed as either diabetic, or prediabetic.

One person I met recently even lost an eye due to diabetes.

But what really hit home, was when my father received his diagnosis… He was prediabetic, and in immediate danger of becoming full blown diabetic.

Things really started to hit home.

My Dad went to see his doctor about it and the good news was that the Doctor had medication for him that made him feel better. The bad news was that Doctor did not give much emphasis at all on lifestyle changes he could be making.

The emphasis is on the bandage, and not on the solution.

This frustrated me, it actually made me scared, because it was at that moment that I realized… I gotta get to the bottom of this myself.

So I bought about a dozen books on the topic. Some were quite good and informative, others were so hard to read they were like university textbooks.

The big issue however, was that everyone had an agenda. Either someone was a conspiracy theorist, and had the viewpoint that the medical industry was bad… Or someone was a Doctor who was very pro medication.

My gut feeling was that the real answer will be somewhere in between. I mean if I hadn’t given my friend that Glucagon shot, he would have died. I’m glad I didn’t look for a natural remedy there!

At the same time though, when doing my research, I uncovered hundreds of stories of people who had gone from being on Diabetes Medication, to making lifestyle changes that now meant that they were healthier than people who aren’t diabetic at all.

So healthy in fact that they didn’t need any medication at all from that point onwards.

Some people would say they ‘reversed’ their Diabetes. In medical terms, that’s impossible, maybe somewhere some test can find it’s still there. But in a ‘life’ sense, it really was gone for those people. They had discovered a very valid solution that worked for them.

The thing is, it was really hard to just get my Dad to want to read any one of these books. The best books out there were very very heavy reading.

Being a film maker, I wanted to see if there were any documentaries on the topic.

And I was very disappointed to find that I couldn’t find any comprehensive series on the topic anywhere.

The closest I could find was the occasional ‘episode’ on the topic, that was part of another series, and unfortunately that only scratched the surface.

That made me quite upset, as I knew my father, and other people around the world in a similar position, are not getting the real answers they need, given to them in a clear manner that is easy to understand.

It was at that time that my wife and I decided to pack our bags and head to New Zealand for a healthier life.

While we were there we discovered that the nutrition problems that we could see in the US were actually spreading worldwide. And that Diabetes is on the rise everywhere.

Then I came across a guy called Mark, who was in the middle of filming a documentary series all about Food, Health and You, with Dr Carl Bamlet.

Wow, I thought, finally someone who is dedicated to getting to the bottom of the TRUTH about health from a nutrition standpoint.

I asked him if he’d consider investing in creating such a series that was specifically about Diabetes.

Mark has a few Diabetic friends of his own, so he was really keen on the idea.

Then, over the course of the next TWO and a half years, I flew back and forth between NZ, the USA and a few other countries, and filmed many interviews with Doctors, Nutritionists, Diabetics, Authors and other experts, and produced the world’s most comprehensive series on Diabetes.

It’s called “That Diabetes Documentary”

We also created during that time hundreds of Diabetic friendly Recipes, and also a step-by-step guidebook to preventing, fighting and managing Diabetes, called “Diabetes Smarts.” This guide also includes a 30-day challenge, which is designed to get people to transform their lifestyle into one that naturally balances blood sugar.

Balanced blood sugar leads to more energy, more sleep, higher feelings of happiness, and is highly correlated with a much longer lifespan. Not to mention that Diabetics who naturally balance blood sugar due to lifestyle changes, quite often find that they can reduce (and sometimes eliminate) their medication (never do this without a Doctor running the tests and being certain that this is the right course of action btw).

We thought it’d take us 6 months to put this together. It took over 2 years. Many discoveries were made, some that startled us. The investment in this project piled up to over $250k, but in my opinion, if this saves lives, then it’s worth every bit of extra time that has gone in.
